Smarcom develops, integrates and operates mobile payment services mainly for the vending industry, together with telemetry solutions and the internet of things.
André Cuttat, CEO of smarcom explained why his company has joined the EVA, “After many years developing innovative solutions (first mobile payment project was in 2000 with CocaCola HBC and Swisscom, later with Selecta) mainly in mobile payment and connecting machines for the vending market, smarcom started activities in 2016 to offer these solutions to the European market. With the new European payment regulation (PSD2) and available international, payable connectivity solutions, smarcom is now ready to enter European vending market. As a part of this process smarcom decided to join EVA, to bring more than ten years’ experience in mobile payment to the vending industries, from one of the rare successful solutions in Europe into this organisation. Smarcom is very interested in forcing mobile payment to an international standard. Besides the experience, smarcom can offer connection to most of the European mobile operators but also solutions for card payment and national solutions like Twint (Switzerland), PayPayl and Girocard (Germany), etc. [Our] main interest is to provide an open solution and let the customers (operators) decide the choice for the best solution. Smarcom’s core business is carrier billing, meaning consumer is charged by mobile operator invoice.
The EVA Director General Erwin Wetzel is pleased to see Smarcom become a new member. He said, “with Smarcom looking to offer their solutions to a wider European audience, the EVA can help through the provision and interpretation of latest market data, and through beneficial opportunities and networking during two days of our annual EVEX event. We also look forward to hearing Smarcom’s voice in future Electronic Payment committees discussing promotion and explanations of this payment method to operators.”
Smarcom, based in Bern, joins the EVA as a Supportive Member.
