EUORPEAN PARLIAMENT VOTES ON KEY DOSSIERS IMPACTING THE INDUSTRY
With the European elections taking place in June, the last plenary session of the current European Parliament saw votes taking place on many of the key files relevant for the vending industry.
Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation
The European Parliament has approved the agreement reached with the European Council.
As a reminder, this Regulation replaces and extends the Ecodesign framework and will introduce a digital product passport and aims to improve the sustainability of all products. Like with Ecodesign, product-specific legislation would thereafter be required to directly impact vending machines.
Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
The agreement on PPWR, reached last month, has been approved by the European Parliament.
The EVA sent separately a detailed summary of the requirements to members.
Payment Services Regulation (PSR)
The European Parliament has now approved its position on the PSR, which includes a specific EVA amendment in the text.
With the Parliament position now agreed, the file will not have to restart the legislative process after the elections, which is very good news.
Right to Repair
The European Parliament has endorsed the agreement found in February.
As reported before, after intensive EVA lobbying refrigerated vending machines were removed from the text during the final inter-institutional agreement.
