Job Offer
The EVA: The European Vending Association represents the whole of the vending industry: machine, machine component and accessories manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and operators (retailers). The primary aim of the EVA is to optimise the industry’s commercial interests within the EU / UN legislation, serve as a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas and experience for its members as well as draft standards for the industry.
The team: 1 Director General, 4 employees.
The EVA is looking for an Advocacy, Lobbying and Marketing Officer from 1 October 2010 to mid May 2011.
Tasks:
- Follow, advocate and lobby on various issues (nutrition, hygiene, environment (WEEE, RoHS, biowaste, HFC, plastics, Eco design..) , payment systems etc)
- Contact, network and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- Gather, digest and spread information
- Write position papers
- Follow legislative work
- Invite relevant stakeholders (Commission, trade associations, companies etc) to Committee meetings
- Develop and maintain long term advocacy and lobby strategies
- Attend EU Platform DPAH and Retail Forum meetings
- Monitor and report on commitments (at EU Platform)
- Coordinate 4 Committees (Hygiene and Food Law, Technical, Cashless, Cups)
- Draft agendas and minutes
- Gather, digest and spread information
- Respond to ad-hoc questions
- Promote the association towards public stakeholders and also in the industry
- Follow-up on the outreach programme (and develop further if possible)
- Support (and develop further if possible) the Member Care programme
- Share knowledge, questions and information on LinkedIn
- Write for the blog
Requirements:
- Master's degree or equivalent per experience – preferably in law, economics or political science
- Languages:
- Excellent English level
- Ability to communicate in French at the workplace
- Other European languages appreciated (especially Northern or Eastern European languages)
- At least 5 years work experience
- Experience in a trade association recommended
- Experience in a EU body welcomed
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Outlook

This position is based in Brussels.
It is a 7-month contract (maternity leave) subject to Belgian employee law practices. “Free lance” may also apply.
Expected start date: beginning October 2010.
