Barracuda and the vending industry
posted 03.06 '2009
One of my emails just bounced back because our IP address is having a "poor" reputation. Could it be that the Barracuda Networks administrator saw that vending was behind the IP address and revenge itself for an inadequate coffee?Or maybe it knows that Barracuda was not my favorite character in the A-team show? Well vending may not have such a good reputation however I am very proud of working for the vending industry. I am among other tasks following the environment dossier at the EVA. Vending is really getting greener and is very proactive. On 5th May the European Commission released a Communication on Fair Trade named “Contributing to Sustainable Development: The role of Fair Trade and nongovernmental trade-related sustainability assurance schemes”, it had released last year a Communication on public procurement for a better environment. Well sustainable coffees are available for vending and widely distributed. As I am also coordinating the Technical Committee, I am also happy to write that the EVA Members developed months ago an energy consumption rating scale for vending machines whereby they showed that they are pro-active and responding to consumers needs. ....maybe if I write that vending makes big efforts and investment so that barracudas can swim in a better waters my email will reach its target?
